As founder and CEO of the Puddle Project, Dr. Shelley Amuh is dedicated to ensuring pregnant and parenting teens have the tools they need to be successful parents.
Dr. Amuh brings over thirty years of experience as a practicing OBGYN to the Puddle Project, wedding her passion for health equity and medicine. Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, Dr. Amuh earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago and her M.D. from the University of Illinois College of Medicine.
She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Wayne State University. Throughout her career, Dr. Amuh has worked in private practice and as a hospitalist in the Chicago area including most recently at Advocate Trinity Hospital. Also, is a member of the National Medical Association (NMA). Currently, Dr. Amuh serves as the Medical Director at CVS Health.
Dr. Amuh has also committed her time to improving access to quality healthcare for low-income communities and communities of color. During the pandemic, Dr. Amuh, in collaboration with ten other Chicago-based physicians, helped form the Southside Obstetrics Synergistic (SOS) Collaborative. The initiative works to address the gaps in healthcare access for pregnant women and infants of color that have been exacerbated by recent closures of Chicago medical facilities during the pandemic.
Dr. Amuh lives in the south suburbs of Chicago with her husband and their five children.
Dr. Donna Walker is an instructor and coordinator of the Early Childhood Development program at South Suburban College (SSC).
She has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from DePaul University, a master’s degree in Early Childhood Curriculum & Instruction from Chicago State University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from National Louis University.
She was an elementary teacher for 13 years and has been teaching at SSC for 19 years. Dr. Walker and her husband have been married for 38 years.
She is the proud mother of five children, two of whom were adopted at birth.
Michelle is currently a Program Development Coordinator with the Chicago Low-Income Housing Trust Fund where she works with Property Owners who have committed to providing affordable housing to those in need of housing assistance.
Prior to working with the Trust Fund, Michelle was employed with the City of Chicago until her retirement after 22 years of service utilizing her experience in real estate, economic development, and project management. Michelle graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Health. She also has a Paralegal Certificate in Real Estate Studies from Roosevelt University.
When Michelle is not mentoring with The Puddle Project, she is participating in Community Service and Fundraising projects as a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and enjoying wine education with ladies of the Southside Wine Divas, Inc.
Michelle is looking forward to her continued work with The Puddle Project, traveling the world, and retiring—for good in 2022.
Valerie Warnsby is a native of Chicago. She is a proud alum of Drake University, where she received a bachelor's degree in business management and public administration. Ms. Warnsby has more than 20 years of nonprofit management experience in board governance, fundraising, program development and organizational growth. Valerie enjoys coaching and mentoring young adults and volunteering in her free time.
Dr. Sandy Y. Gibson is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas. She attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma for undergrad, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She attended Oklahoma State University for Medical School in Tulsa Oklahoma. After graduating, Dr. Gibson moved to Chicago for a transitional year of residency training at Ravenswood Hospital and then to Cook County Hospital for Family Medicine Residency program and became board certified in Family Medicine. Dr. Gibson completed her training and began to work as a primary care physician for Rush Prudential HMO and at several Urgent Care Centers while serving as an instructor at Malcolm X College in the Respiratory Therapy and Physician Assistant Program.
Dr. Gibson has demonstrated a history of working in Family Medicine as a primary care physician, Medical Director for a community clinic as well as Urgent/Emergency Medicine, she worked for HMO Healthcare Plan, participated in Clinical Research, became a Physician Advisor and worked with medical students and Family Medicine Residents. She also served on Quality and Utilization Management committees.
She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, National Medical Association and Cook County Physician Association. She is an active board member for the Puddle Project-mentoring pregnant teens, Church Medical Ministry-providing health education sessions along with community health fairs. She serves on the Medical Committee for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Jack and Jill of America dedicated to community service/political awareness for teens.
She is married to Joe Davis an Airforce veteran, with a PhD in Economics and a retired professor from Roosevelt University and Marian Valley Community College. She has a daughter who attends Savannah College of Arts and Design majoring in graphic design and fashion. Dr. Gibson enjoys working out frequently, cycling, participating in two book clubs, dancing and volunteering for community organizations.
Experienced Executive Assistant with a demonstrated history of working in the marketing and advertising, medical, insurance, and sales industries. Skilled in Heavy Calendaring, Office Administration, Coordinating Meetings, Research, Travel, and ad hoc requests.
Karen really enjoys being an Executive Assistant which provides ongoing opportunities to support The Puddle Project by being organized, timely, and conscientious.
Attention to detail and multi-tasking capabilities; quick decision-maker, flexible, and eager to learn.
Proficient skills with MS Office Suite and Concur. Also processes strong communication and great follow-up skills, along with Project Management–analysis and budgeting.
With the onset of the Pandemic and COVID-19 it was the opportunity to move from Corporate to Entrepreneur.
Utilizing her career as a Sr. Executive Assistant, the birth of Virtual Assistant 4 You, LLC (VA4You) was launched in 2020.
